Use a Mac to play your DVDs, or some Blu-ray Discs through BD-Live, and add intelligence to your remote control:

  •  Gestures. Flick your device to navigate the onscreen menus, or drag-and-tap without looking, and with no pointing required, for our natural replacement to the traditional 5-button compass.
  •  "Playlist" Direct Jumps. Bypass onscreen menus and jump directly to the scene you want. Every feature on the disc is instantly available, with no need to invoke onscreen menus.
  •  Touch Tracks™. Combine a second screen of rich information running along with the movie or TV show with powerful navigation. Did you miss what an actor said? No problem, drag backward on the timeline to read the dialog. Another tap to start the movie from that spot. You'll love the unparalleled control over the experience. (Many movies are still being indexed, the amount of TouchTrack data available varies per title.)

Metamenu remote control features are available on a growing number of Blu-ray Discs on BD-Live players, and over 100, 000 when playing DVDs on a Mac.

DVD on Mac

Remote control on DVD currently requires Metamenu software running on a Mac connected to the Internet.

  • Download free Metamenu application for MacOS. (Registration required - Sign up now.)
  • Insert a DVD into your computer. If DVD software launches, stop playback and quit the DVD software application.
  • Launch the Metamenu application. You will see a video window (black until video starts), a DVD controller for the mouse, and a Player Code window. After connection to the service has been established, a unique Metamenu Player code will appear in this window.

  • When you first launch Metamenu, it will try to recognize the disc. Touch the # button in the upper left to manually enter a code. This optional* code will enable Metamenu services to remotely control the DVD. (Metamenu 1.x shown....in this case just enter the code when prompted.)

  • After you have successfully connected, you can safely close the Player Code window and enjoy the show. The code will reappear the next time you restart the Metamenu Service application.
    • Please test your system before getting Metamenu. Follow the steps above to download and install the player, then use the mouse controls on screen to navigate a DVD. Be sure you are connected to the Internet and that you see a Metamenu player code in the Player Code window.

      *No Remote? No worries.

You can continue with no connection and still enjoy many Metamenu features. (Metamenu 1.x users simply turn OFF the Remote Control switch on the startup screen.) When in this mode, the Remote tab will become disabled and you can use the other tabs. This mode is ideal for many living rooms with standard, non-connected DVD and Blu-ray players.
